Our Mission

At Handprints Large Family Child Care, our mission is to provide child care that meets the needs of each child and family in a safe, educational environment. Handprints is a home-based setting where children are encouraged to develop at their own pace while using developmentally appropriate practices that stimulate social, cognitive, physical and emotional growth. We pride our program’s focus on each child's interest to engage their highest potential as willing learning learners.

USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guarantees your child receives balanced, regulated meals and snacks. 

Balanced Nutrition

Meals meet strict federal and state guidelines, featuring whole grains, fresh fruits, and vegetables while limiting added sugars.

Social Eating

Children learn positive behaviors by watching peers try and enjoy healthy foods together.

We use meal times to tach children about food groups and where fresh food comes from.

Our Philosophy

 

We established an environment where children can develop relationships with both teachers and other children. Children learn through play. Children are provided with opportunities to interact with their peers in a developmentally appropriate environment, a place that is carefully planned to meet the needs of the children. We welcome children of all abilities, including children with special health care needs or disabilities. 

We offer a balance of child initiated and teacher directed activities. Child initiated activities allow children to select and explore a variety of activities provided by adults; teacher directed activities are led by adults most often to teach new skills or introduce new experiences. During these activities we are reflecting on the interests of the children, their primary language and cultural background. We believe it is important and have a respect for diversity in our program.
